The numbers in this graphic are a sobering reminder of why our mission at Grale is so urgent. A plastic bottle used for 15 minutes can persist in our environment for an estimated 450 years and a plastic bag for 20 years.
Traditional plastic doesn't actually disappear. Instead, it undergoes a process where it breaks down into microplastics - tiny particles that remain in our soil and oceans indefinitely, entering the food chain and impacting biodiversity long after the original object is gone.
A necessary disclaimer: These timelines are general averages based on data from Chariot Energy. The actual rate depends heavily on the environment: temperature, UV light, and the product's thickness all play a role.
